Residents of a quiet rural village were left frightened and saddened after a large wild lizard was reportedly causing disturbances around homes and farmland. For several days, villagers said the animal had been seen near houses, damaging crops and attacking small domestic animals, creating anxiety especially among families with children.
The situation reached an emotional peak when the reptile attacked a peacock belonging to a local household. Witnesses described the moment as distressing, saying many villagers felt both fear and helplessness as the incident unfolded.
Eventually, concerned for their safety, a group of villagers came together and killed the animal. While some expressed relief that the threat was gone, others admitted feeling uneasy and saddened, noting that encounters like this reflect the increasing pressure between wildlife habitats and expanding rural communities.
Local elders have since urged authorities to improve wildlife management so similar situations can be handled more safely in the future.
