Father Of Air India Pilot Shares Son’s Final Promise Made Days Before Tragic Crash

It has come to light that just days prior to the catastrophe, the captain of the Air India aircraft that killed hundreds of people had made a terrible commitment to his elderly father.

With the exception of one UK national in seat 11A, none of the 242 passengers on board the Dreamliner aircraft, which was destined for London Gatwick, are believed to have survived. Among them were 53 Britons.

Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, the pilot of Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787 departing from Ahmedabad, India, is one of the people thought to have perished.

The pilot of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was identified as Mr. Sabharwal, who possessed 8,200 hours of expertise.

Co-pilot Clive Kunder, a Mumbai native, had finished his training at the Paris Air Flight School in Florida and had 1,100 flying hours under his belt.

It was also disclosed that Lamnunthem Singson and Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam were part of the cabin crew.

The crew also included Saineeta Chakravarti, Deepak Pathak, Maithili Patil, Irfan Shaikh, Roshni Songhare Rajendra, Manisha Thapa, and senior members Shradha Dhavan and Aparna Mahadik.

As the identities of those believed killed in Thursday’s tragedy were revealed, family members were seen sobbing uncontrollably.

It has now come to light that a week earlier, Mr. Sabharwal promised to take extra time off from his work schedule to spend with his family during a phone conversation with his 82-year-old father, who is residing in a care facility.

Indian politician Dilip Mama Lande, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, has disclosed details of the discussion.

“A few days ago, he promised to take a break to spend time with his father,” he added of Mr. Sabharwal.

According to the Times of India, the older family member is thought to have been a previous employee of India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Prior to the incident in Gujarat, authorities had stated that they thought there were no survivors on the Gatwick-bound flight that carried 242 passengers, including 53 Britons.

Given that the plane crashed into doctor’s offices and lodging near a hospital, the regional police head stated that “some locals would have also died.”

Rescue crews with military assistance have so far retrieved 204 dead, including casualties from the plane and the vicinity of the collision.

However, it became out that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had paid a visit to one British survivor of the Air India airline disaster today.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, is seen on camera conversing with Mr. Modi while he is resting on his hospital bed.

Shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner headed for London crashed into a medical college, killing 242 people. Air India stated that Mr. Ramesh was the only one still alive.

It is the first time a 787 has been involved in a plane catastrophe and ranks among the deadliest in terms of the number of British citizens killed.

From his hospital bed on Friday, Mr. Ramesh told DD News, “I still can’t believe how I survived.”

Shortly after takeoff, the 40-year-old told the broadcaster, the plane seemed like it was “stuck in the air” before the lights started to flicker green and white. “It suddenly slammed into a building and exploded,” he added.

He said, “I still can’t believe how I came out of it alive. For a moment, I felt like I was going to die too.”

“But when I opened my eyes and looked around, I realised I was alive. I still can’t believe how I survived.”

Mr. Ramesh was seated in seat 11A, which was close to an emergency exit on the plane.

Addressing what happened before the incident, Mr Ramesh told the broadcaster, “When the flight took off, within five to 10 seconds it felt like it was stuck in the air.”

“Suddenly, the lights started flickering – green and white. The aircraft wasn’t gaining altitude and was just gliding before it suddenly slammed into a building and exploded.”

He added, “At first, I thought I was dead. Later, I realised I was still alive and saw an opening in the fuselage.”

“I managed to unbuckle myself, used my leg to push through that opening and crawled out.”

Commenting on his survival, Mr Ramesh said, “I don’t know how I survived. I saw people dying in front of my eyes.”

“The air hostesses, and two people I saw near me. I walked out of the rubble.”
