Jimmy Carter Spends 100th Birthday Watching Military Flyover In His Honor

Former President Jimmy Carter made a recent accomplishment that no other U.S. president has ever made. This accomplishment took place on his 100th birthday — that is because he is the first one to reach a century old! To celebrate, there was a concert held in his honor at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. This took place 10 days before his official birthday on October 1.Unfortunately, Carter himself was unable to attend this event. For the last 19 months, he has been receiving hospice care. Still, friends and family alike found a way for the 100-year-old to celebrate this massive milestone in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. Yesterday, Carter was wheeled out of hospice care for time with loved ones, all to enjoy the military flyover in his honor. Catch a glimpse of this special moment in the video below.
“Not everybody gets 100 years on this earth,” the former president’s grandson, Jason Carter, shares, “and when somebody does, and when they use that time to do so much good for so many people, it’s worth celebrating.”

With friends and family by his side, Carter was able to have a very special day. His Secret Service detail was also there, some of whom have been protecting the former president for nearly half a century. There is no telling how many lives he has impacted during that time!
