Simply because I don’t pay rent, I won’t be treated like a maid.

It’s not easy to get started after getting married, especially if you have a baby and live with your in-laws. This is Rain, who is 19 years old, and she often fights with her mother-in-law over house rules. Rain is upset, and things got worse when she spoke up. We were asked for help by her.
This is Rain’s letter:

“My husband and I live with my in-laws because we’re 19 and can’t afford our own place while we raise our child.” Mom-in-law wants me to clean up after them and do the laundry for the whole family. “I’m not her maid!” I told my husband. Since I’m your wife, you need to stand up for me!” When I got home the next day, everything from our room was gone, and my closet was empty. My wife’s mother got my suitcase ready and set it down next to the door. She stated, “If you can’t respect my rules in my house, then you’re no longer welcome.” The worst part was that my husband just shrugged and said, “Maybe you should take the baby to your parents’ house for a while until things calm down.” Just to be with him, I told him I had left everything and moved far away. Then I left. I feel like I can’t do anything. I’m back at home, but things are even worse than before. What should I do?

Best regards, Rain”

A pregnant woman begged for bread in our bakery. She had no money, but I gave her a loaf. She smiled, handed me a hairpin, and said, “You’ll need this one day.” The owner fired me. I kept the pin, not expecting much. 6 weeks later, my blood ran cold when I found… a letter tucked in my old apron pocket from that very woman. It simply read: “Sometimes kindness costs, but it never goes unpaid.”
