Former President Donald Trump recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Fox News following his recent conviction in the New York hush money trial. The interview covered a wide array of topics ranging from the weaponization of the federal government to Trump’s family.
During one portion of the discussion, Trump was asked about declining trust in the institutions that make up the federal government and how to mitigate it. The GOP frontrunner suggested that he would declassify a slew of documents about events such as the JFK assassination, 9/11, and Jeffrey Epstein.
One of the interviewers introduced the topic, stating, “Americans have lost a lot of trust in institutions. And I think there’s been a lot of discussion, especially online and especially with young people. How do we rebuild that trust in institutions, the CIA, the FBI, all those institutions. Some people think that one way to build trust is to declassify things that everyone’s talking about.”
She continued questioning Trump, “I know you talked earlier about, i don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist. So if you were president, would you declassify, you can answer yes or no to this, would you declassify the nine eleven files?” Trump affirmed, “Yeah.” She continued, “Would you declassify JFK files?” The former president answered, “Yeah, i did a lot of it.” Was further asked, “Would you declassify the Epstein files.” The former president indicated that he would.
At another point in the interview, Trump addressed the problem of wokeness in the military. Trump dispelled the idea that leftist ideology has completely infiltrated America’s military at all levels, but rather just among top leadership.
“There’s not woke in the military, there’s woke at the top. They want there to be woke, but these guys aren’t meant for woke,” Trump added. He was then asked, “Are you going to fire those generals, the woke generals at the top?”
He responded, “Yes, I would get rid of them. Yeah. But see now I know them. I didn’t know them before, but you know, I came in, what do I know? I was a New York real estate person. But no, I’d fire them. I would fire them. You can’t have woke military. You said, it so great. You know you have, you need people that want to win they want to win wars. That’s what their purpose is, to win wars, not to be woke and but we do have great military.” Watch Trump’s comments on declassification below:
The presumptive Republican presidential candidate further listed his foreign policy and military-related accomplishments. Simultaneously, he praised the military, except for the woke leadership, such as retired General Mark Milley.
He stated, “Look at the I was the only one in 78 years, or something. I didn’t start any wars. I finished wars. I got out of Syria. I took our soldiers home. I would have moved a lot of men of Germany, and I was going to move out of Germany, not all of them, but I would have moved. We have 45,000 so that’s like, you know what we do by doing that, giving Germany there’s a massive shot in the arm, and then they don’t treat us well in trade, but we have a great military.”
