During the Kansas City Chiefs celebration on Friday, President Biden put on an official team helmet, which made for a comical photo of him at the podium in front of the professional football team.  Some have compared this Biden moment to the bizarre 1988 incident in which Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis posed for a photo while riding on top of a military tank.

Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce yelled at Biden, “Put it on!” after head coach Andy Reid and owner Clark Hunt presented the president with the autographed helmet.  Biden appeared to struggle initially with getting the helmet on, having to remove his sunglasses.

He then shuffled to the podium before walking back and removing the headgear, all while the team cheered him on.  At the tail end of the video, someone in the crowd appears to shout at Kelce, “Travis, where’s Taylor?” referring to his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.

“I’d have Travis come up here but God only knows what he’d say,” Biden joked after delivering his speech, celebrating the team.  Travis Kelce then walked to the podium. “My fellow Americans. It’s nice to see you all again,” he said. “I’m not going to lie President Biden, they told me if I came up here, I would get tased.”

“I mean we didn’t expect that. It was really cool to see that Chiefs helmet on and we’ve got that “Chiefs Kingdom” for the rest of the nation to see,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said about Biden donning the team’s helmet.

Notably, Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker was also present at the ceremony after he delivered conservative remarks during the recent Benedictine College Commencement ceremony that sent the left into an uproar.  The kicker spoke particularly about gender roles in modern society, encouraging women to embrace the role of “homemaker.”

He stated in part, “For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?”  Watch Biden put on the helmet below:

Butker continued, “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I’m on the stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”
