Former First Lady Melania Trump, after setting the internet alight over the 2024 Easter Weekend, has finally, reportedly, decided to return to the campaign trail to help her husband run and win in the 2024 election. The event at which she will appear later in April is a fundraiser that is to be hosted at Mar-a-Lago the Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-GOP LGBT group.
The Log Cabin Republicans’ website, describing its background, says, “The name of the organization is a reference to the first Republican President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who was born in a Log Cabin. President Lincoln built the Republican Party on the principles of liberty and equality under the law. The party should return to its roots. When the organization was founded, the name, “Lincoln Club,” was already taken by another GOP group, so organizers instead chose the name Log Cabin Republicans.”
Continuing, Trump re-emphasized Melania’s private nature compared to other First Ladies. He said, “You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them.” He then continued, “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
Further, speaking about Melania’s care in raising Barron Trump and how she balances that with her love of country and near-constant charity work, he said, “Her life revolves around that boy. It’s so important to her.” He added, “At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She’s raised a lot of money for charity. She’s a private person.” And, returning to his point about how she doesn’t like being in public but will do so because helping him win is important for the country, Trump added, “And she loves the country. She’s going to be out a lot, but she does it for the good of the country, not for her. She’s somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn’t need that.”
