U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake earned a fresh round of conservative endorsements on Monday, notching approvals from Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in her Arizona bid.
The Daily Caller reports that Lake will announce both nods on Monday.
“Kari Lake is MAGA to her core and cannot be bought by the establishment. I am proud to endorse her for the United States Senate in Arizona. I am very much look forward to watching her shake up the halls of power,” Gaetz told the Caller.
“Kari Lake will go to DC to shake things up, and that’s exactly the kind of leadership that Arizona needs in the United States Senate. I am proud to endorse Kari Lake for the United States Senate because she has the policies, the drive, and desire to defeat the Washington War Machine and restore American liberties,” added Sen. Paul.
Lake thanked both men for their support and said she hopes to model their fights for conservative principles if elected.
The fight over illegal immigration is expected to play a pivotal role in the contest as some of the highest-trafficked routes by migrants flow through Arizona’s southern border. Lake has accused her rival, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), of exacerbating the crisis by supporting President Joe Biden’s expanded asylum status programs for refugees.
Lake made national headlines last month when she revealed a secret recording of a conversation she had with former Arizona GOP Chair Jeff DeWitt, who was caught telling her that “very powerful people” from “the East” wanted her out of the race. DeWitt resigned as a result of the ensuing fallout.
