When you work in the hospitality industry you end up being part of a special community.
Restaurant Cora, Lee Skeet’s fine dining place, serves only 12 guests per day. But they do serve the best quality seasonal produce that is available every day. So, it can be ascertained that they showcase quality over quantity. The guests in the intimate dining scene are always served a set tasting menu. If one were to remember properly, this chef had previously worked with stalwarts like Gordon Ramsay. Also, he came into the news in 2017 when he was almost crushed to death. A lorry that was carrying a crane crushed Skeet’s leg and narrowly missed his son.
Needless to say, Twitter was filled with an outpouring of support for Skeet and Lily. One user commented, “Oh my heart… an employer that just touched my heart. Lee, I don’t know you, may even never get the opportunity to meet you but know the world would have been a better place if all of us could have been like you.”
Another Twitter user wrote, “I am a chef. Can’t tell you the amount of times I have found one of our front-of-house in tears because of behavior like this. Bravo. Many forget that this is someone’s child and it is quite possibly her first job. Their first job should be one that sets them up.”
Finally, another user went on to comment, “So happy to see an employer stand up so fiercely and unwaveringly for a member of their team. I do hope they had the good grace and respect to do as you asked. I hope Lily is okay after that dreadful experience and if I’m ever in Cardiff I will most definitely come to Cora.”
Skeet is a renowned Chef who used to work for Gordon Ramsay, but Cora is the first restaurant that he opened.
Back in February, Chef Lee Skeet managed to raise over thirty thousand pounds through Kickstarter. This allowed him to get a commercial kitchen for his restaurant. Previously, he had been simply using domestic equipment- which could be dangerous. “I have an incredible, very small front of house team consisting of the excelled Lily who’s just 21 and runs the show, myself when I have a spare moment to serve, and we’re sometimes helped by my incredibly supportive partner Hannah when she isn’t at her full-time career!”
