Grandma’s Old German Meat Croquettes

These Old German Meat  Croquettes are a classic family recipe, offering a hearty and savory dish with a delightful texture. Made with a mix of  ground beef, grated potatoes, and vegetables, they are perfectly seasoned and baked to a golden brown. This dish is a taste of German culinary tradition, perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal.

How To Make Old German Meat Croquettes:Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes: Grate the two peeled potatoes using a fine grater. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much of the starchy liquid as possible.Step 2: Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground  beef, squeezed grated potatoes, grated carrot, chopped red bell pepper, grated onion, parsley, and crushed garlic. Add the salt, black pepper, and sweet paprika. Crack the two whole eggs into the mixture. Using your hands or a sturdy spoon, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined.Step 3: Shape the Croquettes: Take portions of the meat mixture and shape them into croquettes (oval or cylindrical). Transfer the shaped croquettes to a baking sheet lined with nonstick baking paper. Using a spoon, make superficial slits on the top of each croquette.Step 4: Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the baking sheet with the croquettes in the preheated oven. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the croquettes are golden brown and cooked through.Step 5: Serve: Remove the croquettes from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve hot, and enjoy!
