Last year, Robert De Niro, who is 79 years old, was the subject of much discussion as he became a father.

It goes without saying that the actor faced a plethora of criticism when he disclosed that he had remarried film producer Tiffany Chen. The news was confirmed by De Niro at a red carpet event in May of last year, causing a significant amount of astonishment among his fan base.

However, it would seem that the 80-year-old star of Goodfellas is embracing the role of parent to an infant, despite his advanced age. In a recent interview, the actor choked up while discussing his baby daughter, Gia.

Speaking to AARP for their forthcoming February/March issue, De Niro stated, “I am an 80-year-old father, and it is wonderful.”
“Upon gazing at her, all of my anxieties and concerns dissolve.” “It is fantastic.”

The actor from Ireland, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his role in Flowers of the Killer Moon, stated that Gia reminded him of his daughter Helen, whom he welcomed with Grace Hightower in 2011.

De Niro continued, “I intend to remain present for as long as possible in order to appreciate it and her.”

De Niro expressed his belief in the importance of being affectionate with his children, despite the fact that he occasionally has to be strict, when discussing his role as a father last year. He also stated, “I don’t think I’m a cool dad.”

“I mean, there is no way around it with children.” I am not fond of being required to establish the law and other such matters.
“However, there are instances in which you are compelled to make a decision, and I believe that any parent would similarly comment.”

“You are always inclined to act in the best interest of the children and grant them the benefit of the doubt; however, there are instances in which this is not possible.”

The renowned actor, who was married to Grace Hightower for two decades, parted ways with her in 2018. However, it appears that he has since rekindled his romance with Tiffany Chen, as previously mentioned.

De Niro has two children with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott: Raphael, 46, and Drena, 1951. He has two additional children with his second wife, Grace: Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11. Also, the actor has twin sons, Aaron and Julian, who are 27 years old, with Toukie Smith.
