WATCH: Biden “Malfunctions” During Speech In Arizona

Recently, President Biden traveled to Arizona, where he gave a speech on “investing in America” and a preliminary $8.5 billion agreement with Intel to build semiconductor facilities under the CHIPS & Science Act. A key part of Biden’s agenda has been to spur domestic chip manufacturing to improve supply chain resiliency.
The domestic investment initiative the president was speaking on intends to bolster job growth in Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and Oregon. However, the speech was filled with moments that have become common throughout Biden’s public appearances, demonstrating his elderly age and seeming cognitive decline. As Biden attempted to highlight some of the purported benefits of the CHIPS & Science, he struggled to coherently verbalize his words at times.
RNC Research, an X account run by the Republican National Committee, posted a clip from Biden’s appearance in Arizona with the comical caption, “BIDEN: *malfunctions*.” At this point in the speech, it appears as if the president was attempting to say, “It’s gonna expand their…their…engineering…over then thousdands additional students. Ten thousand additional engineering students.”
Biden seemingly struggled to complete the sentence, stumbling several times and slurring his speech through some of the words. Social media users reacted to the clip, where many are unfazed by such Biden moments, which have become all too common.
One user commented, “10,000 additional shxjdhnsksnx,” mocking how Biden slurred and stumbled over his comments. “This is getting out of hand,” another person wrote. Other X users pointed out how frequently it seems Biden is having these kinds of moments during public engagements.
Concerns around Biden’s physical and mental health have proven to be a paramount concern for many voters ahead of the 2024 election. According to the results of a recent NBC poll, nearly 76% of voters are concerned about Joe Biden’s age.
RNC Research has consistently shared Biden’s gaffes and slip-ups to its massive audience on X, while the Biden campaign is trying to convince voters that the incumbent president is capable of leading the United States. However, instances such as the one seen in the video below do not help their case:
Particularly troublesome for the Biden campaign’s attempt to inspire confidence in voters were the findings of Special Counsel Robert Hur earlier this year, which investigated Biden’s mishandling of classified evidence. According to Hur, criminal charges were not recommended against Joe Biden, partly because of his old age and memory complications.
Hur wrote in his conclusion, “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory . . . It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”
Furthermore, former White House doctor turned GOP congressman Ronny Jackson asserted that he does not believe Biden is “cognitively fit” to serve as president. “We’ve been saying this for a long time. I had been saying this since before he actually became elected President, that this man is not cognitively fit to be our president. I said that it would continue to get worse. It has. Everyone has continued to see it on a regular basis,” he said.
