Actress and conservative comedian Roseanne Barr recently weighed in on pop star Taylor Swift and the implications of her influence on the upcoming presidential election. While interviewed by conservative commentator and Senior Editor for Human Events Jack Posbiec, Barr indicated that the “establishment” could utilize Swift as a “mouthpiece” for their agenda.
Posobiec explained a hotly contested take of his that Taylor Swift’s vast popularity amongst the youth will be harnessed for an anti-Trump, liberal agenda. The Human Events editor further detailed his belief that political actors will attempt to convert “Swifties” into votes.
“I think, and I’ve said this I’ve taken a lot of crap for this online. I think they’re using Taylor Swift right now they’re gearing up for an operation to use Taylor Swift in the election against everything against Trump for Biden. They are going to get her and all you know they call them the Swifties. They’re going to turn those into voters you watch,” Posobiec said.
Roseanne Barr responded in agreement with Posobiec, stating that she thinks Taylor Swift has willingly spoken on behalf of the political establishment.” I think that’s what they’re doing too. She’s definitely somebody who has consented to speak the way the establishment wants to be spoken,” said Barr.
The conservative comedian further stated that her massive popularity, particularly among young girls, will be exploited as political capital. “Yeah. And I think that’s that’s gonna be the way they try to get on top of the next election,” she said. Watch the footage of the interview below.
Substantiating the claims of Barr and Posobiec, California Governor Gavin Newsom told TMZ that Taylor Swift’s influence over popular culture will be “profoundly powerful” in the upcoming election. “Taylor Swift stands tall and unique,” Newsom said. “What she was able to accomplish in getting young people activated to consider that they have a voice and they should have a voice in the next election, I think it’s profoundly powerful.”
The blue state governor continued explaining that Swift is actively using her platform to encourage political involvement. “I think she’s using her celebrity [status] for good,” Newsom said. “Republicans are critical of her encouraging people to register to vote, which says everything you need to know about the voter suppression going on in the Republican party.”
The famous singer recently issued a statement to her fans urging them to “raise” their voices when voting in the next election. Republicans have criticized this as promoting her fanbase to vote for Democrats. “I’ve been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my U.S. shows recently,” Taylor Swift told her devout fans. “I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year!”
Other reports indicate that President Biden is “desperately” seeking an official endorsement from Swift to improve his struggling polls. Taylor Swift endorsed Biden and Harris in 2020 and is known to support various liberal causes, such as the LGBT community and abortion.
