The singer teased a preview of her new song “Midnight Trip To Vegas” one day after the couple’s first wedding anniversary.
The singer and actress, 53, teased her new song “Midnight Trip to Vegas” on Monday, one day after the first anniversary of the couple’s marriage at the Little White Chapel.
“It’s been a year since our Midnight Trip to Vegas… Visit On The JLo for a special treat… “#ThisIsMeNow,” she captioned two photos of herself wearing a rhinestone-encrusted white minidress on Instagram.
Lopez wore the gown on Sunday when she and Affleck, 50, celebrated their anniversary at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, California.
The Grammy winner later unveiled the words to her new song and a preview of herself performing in her On the JLo email.
In the video, the mother of two glances at the camera and speaks the lyrics, which refer to her wedding to the AIR star in Vegas.
“Then you whispered in my ear / Said let’s get out of here / We can disappear tonight,” Lopez recalls.”How about a / Midnight trip to Vegas / Just me and you baby / Throw the kids in the back / Of the pink Cadillac / And us changing in the bathroom?”
“Venice Midnight Trip / Our hearts are both racing / I’ll pick you up late / We don’t have to wait / Let’s go crazy.”
The song is the first taste of Lopez’s upcoming album This is Me… Now, which will follow her 2002 Affleck-inspired album This Is Me…Then.
The Mother star confirmed on July 17, 2022, that she and Affleck had married the day before in the Little White Chapel, months after announcing their engagement in April.
“We finished it. Love is lovely. Love is gentle. Love, it turns out, is patient….”We flew to Vegas last night, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the world’s wedding capital,” she said in her newsletter to her admirers.
“Behind us, two men held hands and each other,” Lopez explained. “In front of us, a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on the occasion of their daughter’s second birthday — all of us wanting the same thing — for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”
“We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight,” Lopez said, referring to the pink Cadillac mentioned in her new song. They gladly stayed open a few minutes later, allowing us to take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible formerly used by the king himself (although if we wanted Elvis to show up, it cost extra, and he was in bed.”
“In the little chapel, we read our vows and gave each other the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” Lopez continued. “They even had a Bluetooth for the (brief) procession down the aisle.” But, in the end, it was the best wedding we could have hoped for. One we had long wished for and one that has finally become a reality (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible, and one another).”
Lopez and Affleck began dating in July 2002 and were engaged in November. They did, however, postpone their September 2003 wedding only days before it was scheduled to take place. In 2021, they rekindled their romance.
Following their divorce, Affleck married Jennifer Garner, 51. Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11, are shared by the couple, while Lopez has twins Emme Maribel and Maximilian “Max” David, 15, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
